2009 FORD EDGE

I BROUGHT MY 2009 EDGE TO CURRIE MOTORS FRANKFORT IL DUE TO A STRANGE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THEY CHARGED ME $115.00 FOR TESTING AND $119 FOR A BATTERY I DO NOT THINK I NEEDED, AND WANTED TO REPLACE BATTERY CABLES FOR $504.00 WHEN ALL I NEEDED WAS A NEW CABLE END. I WENT TO PICK UP THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START THE SERVICE WRITER TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND SAID HE TIGHTENED THE CONNECTION. I GOT IN AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER FOR 12 TRIES THEN IT WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START FOR TWO TRIES THEN IT STARTED, (THE ORIGINAL REASON FOR BRINGING THE CAR THERE) I BROUGHT MY CAR TO BOB AND SON CAR CARE CENTER INC AT 345 W 31ST STREET CHICAGO IL 60616. HE FOUND THAT THERE WAS A TSB ON THAT VERY PROBLEM AND HE TOOK THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD APART AND REPLACED WHATEVER WAS NEEDED. THAT COST $456.50 FOR HOURS WORKED AND THE CAR IS FINE AGAIN. WHY WOULD A FORD DEALER NOT KNOW ABOUT THE TSB. ROBERTO, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID TSB'S ARE NOT FIXED FOR FREE ANYWAY. I WAS NOT LOOKING FOR A FREE FIX JUST FIXED. SO WHY WAS I CHARGED FOR A TEST THAT DID NOTHING AND A BATTERY THAT I DID NOT NEED? I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER NOT WORKING AND TOOK IT BACK STILL NOT WORKING. I THINK I AM DUE A REFUND.

CAR NOT STARTING

MY 2009 FORD EDGE WAS NOT STARTING, IT WOULD SOMETIMES DO NOTHING WHEN KEY TURNED, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD TURN OVER VERY FAST AND NOT START, SOMETIMES IT WOULD START AND THE ODOMETER WOULD NOT WORK. I BROUGHT IT TO CURRIE FORD IN FRANKFORT ILLINOIS AND THEY CHARGED ME $115.00 FOR TESTING TO FIND PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY $119.00 AND NEW CABLES $504.00. I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE BATTERY EVEN THOUGH I DID NOT THINK THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT DO NOT DO THE CABLES. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP IT WOULD NOT START THE SERVICE WRITER TOOK IT BACK IN AND THEY TIGHTENED THE BATTERY END. I WENT OUT AND IT WOULD NOT START FOR MAYBE 15 TRIES THEN FINALLY STARTED. I BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC HE SPENT 4 OR 5 HRS AND FOUND THAT FORD HAS A TSB ON THE PROBLEM AND HE TOOK THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD APART AND REPLACED LOOSE FITTING FUSES THAT VIBRATED LOOSE AND WERE ARCHING JUST LIKE FORDS TSB SAID. THAT COST ME $456.50 AND THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. I CALLED CURRIE FORD BACK AND SAID I THINK FORD SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE TSB AND NOT HAVE SOLD ME A BATTERY AND TESTING AND TRIED TO SELL ME $504.00 CABLES WHEN IT JUST NEEDED A NEW CABLE END. THE SERVICE MANAGER ROBERTO SAID TSB'S ARE NOT FREE, MY POINT IS FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE TSB AND REPAIRED AS INSTRUCTED NOT SELL ME UNECCESARY TESTING AND BATTERY AND TRY TO SELL $504 CABLES.
